Yesterday the temptation plunged from a daytime high of 16?C to an overnight low of about -10?C. With the wind chill, today feels positively frigid. It’s a bit hard to stomach after a particularly long, harsh winter. Montreal has not been hit as hard as some other regions. At this time of year, I’ve grown accustomed to being able to shed the winter coat and the heavy boats.
Usually, this time of year is associated with a certain lightness of step as the weather warms up and spring shows its early signs. It offsets the drudgery of spring responsibilities like taxes, and the inevitable ramping up of work at this time or year. This year, we are apparently at least two weeks behind in terms of spring weather. And until it gets warm on a consistent basis, we’ll still carry the burden of winter.
